BBUC’S GOT TALENT.

“NO ONE CAN FIND TALENT IN A COMFORT ZONE”

This was clearly displayed by a team of Mass communication students of Bishop Barham University when they started up a powerful initiative dubbed “THE VIBE”. This is a TV entertainment show run on social media platforms and YOUTUBE. The masterminds behind this show include; Randy Ug(Presenter), Kunaana MC(Presenter), Trish(Presenter) and Truth(Producer).

The show idea germinated from a group coursework and later grew into a bigger thing. During the coursework presentation(exhibition), One of the panelists, Mr. Andrew Agaba, Manager Voice Of Kigezi Radio gave the trio of presenters an offer to host one radio show on the same station where he happens to be the official host. The show is run on Saturdays 11am-2pm.

“I have hosted The Request Line for a long time, and u never know what comes out these kids (laughs). I trust them.” Said DJ Andrew.

A few days after a successful radio show, The Vibe team was given a job on a surviving online Television Station based in Kabale District, Kigezi Entertainment TV.

Currently, their shows are running and they are earning some money from it. However, The Vibe is still running regardless of the fact that the trio of presenters work with another online TV. “Kigezi Entertainment TV is a Television, The Vibe is a Television show. Therefore, if any TV station is interested in the show, we can talk.” Said Muhanguzi Gilbert(Truth Media), Producer The Vibe show.

Western Ugandan Music Icon “Ray G” To Take Runyankole Music To The World.

Western Uganda music icon Reagan Muhairwe aka Ray G was born on June 12 1992 in the Western Uganda District of Bushenyi. He started singing in 2009 while he was in senior three but rose to fame in 2014 after releasing his hit song Amarari which gained airplay across the country. He has since released several songs, most of which are love themed. “Love is very broad and I attempt to cover all its aspects. My choice of lyrics is inspired by things that I see happen in our society,” Ray G said. Unlike other artistes from Western Uganda who when they rise to fame tend to change to singing English and Luganda, Ray G has maintained his style of singing which will predictably make him hard to dethrone from Western Uganda for a long time. Currently, he is signed under ‘Awesome Entertainment, a Mbarara based music label.

School Life.

Ray G completed high school in 2012 but couldn’t continue to University since his parents couldn’t afford to pay, yet his siblings were still in lower classes. He decided to take a break from school and concentrate more on music which would later help him afford his University tuition. Ray G is currently ranked among the top musicians in the country and is arguably Western Uganda’s biggest.

He is signed under a music label “Awesome Entertainment” which has laid a platform for him to record music in good studios and best producers in the capital ‘Kampala’ such as Nessim Pan Production among others.

Ray G has done collaborations with Ugandan best artists such as Geo Steady, Voltage music among many others. This has enabled him to be hosted to national televison stations; NBS and NTV which creates awareness national wide.

He promised to make runyankole music known countrywide which looks to be a success in a few.
